Crochet is in!

Well it seems that crochet is making a comeback in the fashion world..... Personally I don't see how it can go out of fashion.  I was flicking through the Summer catalogue to see the trends...... not that I go with the latest trend, I'm one of these people who buys what they need, so basically you can fit my wardrobe into a suitcase.

Anyway back to the crochet thing.... on the left is a crochet vest which is tagged at €34.... I'm not kidding, I won't pay that for it as I could make one for less.
So if you wanted to make a similar one Caron International has a free pattern on their site see picture on the right.

I might be busting into my stash yet and using that pattern as a basis for a project, the scalloped edge with a plain body.

I have to say I adore the crochet waistcoat in the catalogue so I will be seeking a similar pattern for that. By some miracle it may make the sale in the summer?! Yes I am hopeful......lol
No doubt when I finish the current projects on my needles, I'll do some trials with my crochet hook after a bit of research. I'm new to crochet so I have to read a bit and think about how to make it before I even think about starting.

I really have to sort out all my patterns so I can find stuff quicker.........when I have a spare 2-4 weeks maybe.........lol I'm glad it's all on discs because it would be one big paper mound otherwise.

Gentle reminder...

Well I thought it was time to catch up with all my emails this morning. I don't get many thankfully!
Anyway what landed in my inbox this morning was a gentle reminder (from a crafting site) that Valentines day is round the corner......... I had totally forgotten about it....***moans*** and with all the frost at the moment, cuddling up at the fire is all anyone wants to do.

But looking on the bright side there are 3 weeks to go to figure out what to do for my long term partner, (calling him my boyfriend just sounds daft after almost 15 years).

Plan A is cook him a steak dinner (his favourite), and if he's really lucky I'll bake a Black Forest Gateaux for dessert.
Plan B weather permitting is that we take a day trip somewhere. Making sure that where-ever we go is open.

I'll see what bit's n bobs I've got for making his card and scour the net for a nice verse, as I couldn't put one together if I tried..... well I don't think I could.

I tried to surprise him with a walk in the woods this week and they had closed it for 2 days for maintenance!  Just my luck! Mind you saying that it was a crazy day full of little glitches and events. Of course I blame the Full Moon.... it seems to have a strange effect on some people.

Roman Blinds

This had been on my "to do list" all last year and  I finally got around to doing it. Fabric, lining, wood, 2 screws and o rings from stash, bought nylon string and curtain eyes & hooks.
Instructions on how to make it are here

www.alternative-windows.com/roman-blind.htm

I stapled the blind to the wood, but the Velcro[Hook n Loop] is a fab idea if you need to wash it regularly.  I only used 3 pieces of doweling as that's all I had, but it worked ok and the blind is only 2/3 up. The arrow is pointing to a cup hook where the pull cord is secured.
I actually tied knots in 3 places for the different levels.

Bliadhna Mhath Ùr

Happy New year to you all.
May all your wishes come true and your hopes be fulfilled.

Well who knows what's in store. With all the doom and gloom nationwide here, I intend to look on the bright side and focus on the positive side of life. That way I won't get swallowed up by the abyss that is trying very hard to drag us in.
